Danny Green wins 2007 Corvette in Raffle
After a week of thunderstorms and flooding, Saturday, June 6, brought
sunny weather for Foothills Corvettes’ third cruise-in. And it also
brought out the cars–did it ever! Over two hundred original and modified
beauties
built by General Motors from 1928 to 2009. The parking lot at Empire
Chevrolet was overflowing
with beautiful examples of American muscle. Best of all, lots of money
was raised for Ebenezer Children’s
Home, as all funds went to that organization. It had been months of hard
work and planning by
Foothills Corvette, but it proved to be worth it. The weather cooperated
and the turnout was great for a
great cause. Highlight of the event was the raffle of the 2007 Corvette
convertible that the club sold tickets for. A total of 584 tickets went
into the barrel with all buyers hoping their ticket would be the final
one left in the
draw down.

Welcome to Foothills Corvette Club sponsored by
Empire
Chevrolet of Wilkesboro, NC. We are a group of Corvette enthusiasts who
enjoy getting together for fun and fellowship and spending time in the
driver’s seat of the “Great American Sports Car”. We are a non-profit
organization holding several fundraisers throughout the year. Each
December needy families and various organizations are presented the
proceeds raised by the club.
We currently have members from Caldwell, Wilkes, Alexander, Yadkin,
Iredell, and Catawba counties. Membership is not limited to these
counties. We enjoy club rides on the third Sunday afternoon of each
month. Rides are planned by club members and generally conclude with an
evening meal. The club also has an annual Christmas Party as well as
some overnight trips to various locations.
Quarterly business meetings are held in January, April, July, and
October at various locations in surrounding counties. If you’re
interested in joining our club please
email us for more information or
click here for an application. Initial dues are $31 for a single or $37
couple; this includes $6 each for name badges. Renewals are $25 per
year.

For April’s social outing, the club met at
Harold Mecimore’s and was greeted by Ben and Margie Hines.
Mike Mays, Margie’s son, was introduced as the ride leader,
while Margie and Ben
went home to get the meal ready.
There was a nice enjoyable ride along country roads, over a
dam, and across Lake Hickory.
The group then journeyed to Margie’s and enjoyed rib-eye
steaks, baked potato, salad, and desserts
prepared by Two Sisters Catering.
Afterward there was entertainment by Tanner Mundy, who sang
and told jokes.
Bill Reavis was winner of the 50/50 drawing.
Kendall Hendrix recognized former members Alex and Sandy
Garcia, who were present. He also reminded everyone to keep
promoting the cruise-in by selling tickets and distributing
flyers. Click
